Engine: 649cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder, cylinders canted forward at 30 degrees, producing 95bhp and 63Nm of torque with smooth, linear power delivery across the rev range and a high-revving top end characteristic of Honda's four-cylinder engines.


Honda E-Clutch: An automatic clutch system that takes elements from quick-shifters, manually operated clutches, and Honda's Dual Clutch Transmission to create a unique blend of approaches. The clutch and transmission hardware are no different from a conventional motorcycle, and the compact system weighs less than four and a half pounds. The clutch lever remains fully functional at any time if the rider prefers manual control.


E-Clutch flexibility: When the clutch lever is used, Honda E-Clutch temporarily pauses, then automatically reactivates. The system also advises the rider to shift down via a symbol on the instrument panel if it detects the motorcycle is in a high gear at a certain speed.


Assist/slipper clutch: For riders using the lever manually, the assist/slipper clutch reduces lever effort and manages rear-wheel lockup under hard braking and rapid downshifts.


Transmission: 6-speed gearbox with a compact stacked layout, delivering well-spaced ratios suited to both urban riding and open roads.


Frame: Steel diamond frame with pressed swingarm pivot plates and twin elliptical spars, with rigidity specifically tuned — stiffer around the headstock and more flexible in the spar sections — for excellent all-round handling with high levels of rider feedback.


Front suspension: 41mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) USD forks, offering high damping performance and lighter weight through a pressure separation damper in one tube and a spring mechanism in the other.


Rear suspension: Showa monoshock with linkage, tuned to complement the front for a balanced, composed ride in all conditions.


Brakes: Four-piston radial-mount front brake calipers working 310mm floating discs, paired with ABS as standard for strong, progressive stopping power.


HSTC: Honda Selectable Torque Control monitors rear wheel traction and adjusts engine output to reduce wheel slip under hard acceleration. Can be switched on or off via a handlebar-mounted button.


Wheels and tyres: Cast aluminium wheels carrying 120/70-ZR17 front and 180/55-ZR17 rear tyres for precise road contact and sporty handling response.


Design: Neo-Sports Cafe styling with a long, prominent fuel tank housing the ignition, a slanted LED headlight, and full LED lighting throughout. Tightly wrapped bodywork with short overhangs and a clean, minimalist appearance. New Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic colour for 2026.


A2 licence compatible: A 35kW restricted version is available, making the CB650R accessible to A2 licence holders without changes to the core bike.
